Materials: Quinacridone gold, quinacridone red, quinacridone rust, ultramarine blue, phthalo blue, and sepia watercolors. Titanium white gouache.
Method: For this painting, I used the same method as in the previous one, starting with a wash of diluted white gouache, to which this time I added a tiny drop of yellow, just enough to warm up the white. As in traditional watercolor however, the whites representing snow are the white of the paper. Except for a few small accents (such as snow on the tree's branches against the darker background) I did not use white gouache by itself opaquely.
I have not used glazing much in watercolor, usually preferring a more direct, alla prima approach. In this case however, the sky took three glazes to get it to the right value and density. I think, the subtle color variations are a nice side effect. This was achieved by varying color slightly within each glaze.
Location: Tavşanlı/Kütahya, Turkey.

Such a lovely painting again Mineke, I really do like your style of work. Plus, it is great to know what colours you have used and how you have applied them, all resulting in a delightful view. Thank you.
Thank you very much again Ann. I'm glad you like it. These colors are my basic palette currently. I may add others occasionally depending on the subject.
