Painting of the Day
Watercolor, 5"x7" $100
Still focusing on green, but this time in an urban setting. It's surprising how much green can be found even in the city.
(The title comes from a piece of Turkish art music: At kadehi elinden. Lyrics and music: Teoman Alpay).

The greens are lovely, and the red sleeves peeking out from under the white covering really pop out at the viewer.
Beautiful! I think I need to do what you did--I'm always intimidated by lots of green. This is a wonderful image!
I was really drawn into those greens and then all of a sudden my eye went to the sleeves. It made me really think more about the varieties of green necessary to hold ones interest.
Your greens are lovely, and the violet you've used works beautifully with them.
Thanks Elizabeth. Without the figure (and with her the opportunity to introduce contrasting colors) I don't think I would have attempted this.
Thanks Suzanne, it never hurts to practice, but you have some beautiful greens in your work that I've seen.
Thank you for that observation Bill. In a way I'm using a "fallow" time to try to improve my skills, in hopes that I'll be ready for whatever may come next. These are the most frustrating times for me (I always like to know where I'm heading) but I've learned to trust that they are necessary.
Thanks Laura. I like green/violet combinations. I'm learning what are effective combinations with green: blue, violet, red, pink, white. But you are such a colorist, you could make it work with any color.
Merci d'avance

You know that I love everything you montreJe we wanted to ask you which technique you use preference: wet on wet on wet or dry in the wet. And you work in gouache along with watercolor or séparémentMerci ahead
Bonjour Pierre. Encore merci beaucoup.
I ususally start with a wet-in-wet wash to cover most of the paper. After that, it depends on the subject, but I have no set approach. I will use all techniques. When I use a combination of watercolor and gouache, I use them both at the same time, not separately. I hope this answers your question.
