Yeşil alanlar - Fields of green

Painting of the day
Watercolor, 7"x5" SOLD
(Photo reference courtesy of Ahmet Sürücü. Thanks Ahmet).

After those assertive green swatches I posted the other day, I wanted to incorporate those greens into a painting. I decided to let this one be unapologetically green, with just a little blue and white as supporting actors. It was a bit of a struggle, but a good exercise.

This is so beautiful and well done! In my opinion your struggle with greens was extremely succeeded here.

The blue and white do nicely plus you have a small swatch of burnt sienna. To me it looks like the struggle with green is paying off :)

Beautiful, Mineke! Such a great variety of cool and warm greens... and that little touch of burnt sienna catches the eye as if to tease it. Wonderful work as always!
So nice to 'see' you again...!

On the contrary, I think you intermixed and juxtaposed the greens in a very pleasing composition. Well done!

OMG--I almost missed this (too much work work ...)--it's a masterpiece of green--really and truly. Astounding: I have to come back and study it!! I am in awe.

I think we all need to do something similar as an exercise for using greens. I find I still try to avoid green landscapes for fear of failure. Yours worked well. Maybe a small dab of a daring red would have made a punch.

Thank you all so much for your feedback and support. I really appreciate it!
For those of you who spotted a touch of burnt sienna in this painting: that color is in fact not even on my palette. I wanted to introduce - as Jean suggested - a spot of bright red (a few poppies) there, but I did not like the result, scrubbed out most of the vermillion but left a little color, then overpainted it with green.
I struggled with this 'frontal attack on green' but I'm glad I pushed ahead, as I do feel much more comfortable with it now.
